Can A Person Suffering from Asthmatics go for Lap Band Surgery?

I have been suffering from morbid obesity for the past 7 years or more. My BMI is around 46 and have tried many weight loss procedures but none of them yielded any kind of result for me. I have even tried some diet plan but the results were absolutely futile.

Due to my growing obesity, I have developed serious asthma and it makes my body go in swoon when I get an attack of asthma. I am looking forward to get lap band surgery done on me but my only fear is my asthmatics. Can I get this surgery done without any kind of side effects?
